Since
the 2002 collaboration between Kleiwerks International (USA), Spirit
in Education Movement (Thailand), and Wongsanit
Ashram (Thailand), earthen building
has spread to many thousands. A small group of dedicated activists, The 'Baan Din Team' ('Earth House Team'), emerged from these early trainings. They continue with non-stop building and teaching in all regions of both Thailand, and neighboring countries.
If you are interested in working with
a widespread people's movement of villagers, grassroots activists, students, artists, architects,
and others, there are a number of exciting projects to get involved
with. On the building site materials
and techniques include adobe, wattle and daub, cob, earthen plasters and paints, bamboo, thatch, stone
and other readily available indigenous materials. Both Natural Building and permaculture trainings are ongoing. There are also Interfaith Solidarity Forest Walks, organized by the Hilltribe People of
Northern Thailand and Spirit in Education Movement. Between projects there is opportunity to make
side trips, visiting different regions of Thailand, including national parks, meditation
retreat centers, Thai massage and cooking schools, islands, cities and village communities.
